Harmony Cup – Team India Training and Practice Match

Team India, to play at next month’s Harmony Cup will hold a training session on Sunday 7 March at 1pm. The following Sunday, one week prior to the event, Team India will play a match against Team Israel. This is not only ideal preparation, but should give an indication of how they’ll fare on the day.

Further details for both the training session and practice match will be revealed in coming weeks on the team’s Facebook page.

India to partake in Harmony Cup

India will be represented at the Harmony Cup in Melbourne this March.

According to Aussie Rules International (ARI) the event’s host, “the Harmony Cup, previously known as the Multicultural Cup, features teams drawn from Melbourne’s migrant communities. The aim of the event is to celebrate Melbourne’s ethnic diversity and harmony, and to use Australian football to break down cultural and ethnic barriers.” The event takes place on Harmony Day – 21 March 2010.

The Indian team is being coordinated by Vishnu Rishi, a member of the Indian team at the 2008 International Cup.

If you’re over sixteen and were born in India, or have a parent or grandparent born in India, you’re eligible for selection. An information session will be held by Brian Clarke of ARI on Sunday 7 February at 1 PM at Gosch’s Paddock. This will be followed by the first of three team tryouts. Those interested should bring footy boots, a mouthguard and come suitably attired.

More information is available from the Team India Facebook page.
